Rules of Roulette

Different people have different kinds of interests and hobbies. Not two people are alike. Some may have an interest in cars, others in mobiles, some may be fond of fashion or arts or some might be more inclined towards music. So basically, each individual does stuff according to their interests and hobbies.

In this article we are going to talk about one of the most popular interests found in people today: gambling. We are going to focus on a particular field of gambling, the game Roulette, which is played in casinos and online all over the world. Later on we are also going to discuss the rules of the game and how it is supposed to be played.

Roulette is a game named after a French diminutive. It is a casino game whereby people can place their bet on a single number, a combination of numbers, the colors black and red and/or whether a particular number will be even or odd. So in the game of Roulette, one has a variety of stuff to bet on! This makes it easier for people to try their luck.

Roulette is all about spinning the wheel in a particular direction! To decide whose bet takes the round, a croupier spins the wheel in one direction and throws a ball in the other direction on a slightly tilted circular track around the borders. The pace of the ball eventually slows down and that is where the winner would be decided. The ball stops on one of the 37 or 38 numbered or colored tiles.

There are different types of bets in Roulette. Broadly they are categorized into two main branches, namely inside and outside bets.

Inside bets have the following categories or options.

  • Straight up
  • Split
  • Street
  • Corner
  • Trio
  • Basket
  • Top line

Outside bets have the following categories or options.

  • 1 to 18
  • 19 to 36
  • Column bets
  • Snake bets
  • Dozen bets
  • Color
  • Even or odd

Of course there are also many other options available to the player besides these.

Let us now discuss some of the rules of this game.

Roulette inside bets are usually made up of numbers within the roulette figure layout. One rule is that the sum of all your bets must equal at least the board minimum. For example if you are playing on a roulette table of $10, the minimum you can bet is $10 and not less than that.

In a straight up bet, you can choose any of the 37 or 38 numbers and putting your chips down to that number can make you regain from 35 to 1.

Talking about the split bet now, one of the rules says that in one time you can bet on two different integers as well. However, in this case the integers must be next to each other on the roulette table.

Then there is the square bet. To make this bet, one has to place his chips at the junction 0 and 3 on the corner. You can win if you strike any of  the 0, 1, 2, or 3 tiles. You have a chance of winning from 8 to 1 in this case.

Moreover, the roulette game also has outside bets as mentioned earlier. These bets are usually made on the outside of the available 37 integers. There are no winning outside bets for 0 results. Again the minimum outside bet should match the minimum of the board.

It is very important to understand the rules of a game before you actually decide to play it! So make sure you are well aware of what you are about to do when you start to gamble.
